Sold Housing Affordability Indexes

Sold Housing Affordability Indexes

The Sold Housing Affordability Indexes measure the sold component of housing affordability at median owner incomes and median renter incomes. Two affordability indexes are provided:

  • Sold Housing
    • median cost to own as a percent of the median household income of owners
    • median cost to own as a percent of the median household income of renters

The Sold Housing Affordability Indexes answer these questions, “What is the percent of the typical owner income that is required to afford the typical bought home?” and “What is the percent of the typical renter income that is required to afford the typical bought home?”
